Sisay Amanuel

Sisay Amanuel is the Lab Manager at Tropiq, a role she has held since 2017. She is often referred to as a "superstar" and a "lab and superstar" within the company, and she is deeply passionate about coffee, especially coffee from her home country, Ethiopia.

Growing up in the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, Sisay developed an early fascination with coffee due to its cultural significance and the diverse flavors it offered. This interest carried her to the University of Addis Ababa, where she pursued and earned her degree in Management and Marketing. During her studies, she interned at the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX), where she was introduced to the world of coffee trading and quality control.

After completing her degree, Sisay joined Tracon Trading, a green coffee exporting company, where she played a key role in their quality control department. Her experience at Tracon Trading provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the entire coffee supply chain.

Sisay joined Tropiq in 2017 and has been an invaluable asset to the team ever since. She is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Ethiopian coffee industry and is particularly passionate about quality control. She also brings a customer-centric perspective to her role, ensuring that the coffee not only meets but exceeds the expectations of Tropiq's customers.

Sisay Amanuel is basically a coffee quality control ninja. She's got an eagle eye for details, thanks to her background in accounting. It’s like she's got an internal GPS when it comes to logistics; she’s all over collecting coffee samples, roasting, and getting them ready for taste tests. When it comes to the coffee supply chain, Sisay’s like a walking encyclopedia, handling paperwork and keeping quality in check. And let's not forget, she’s also a pro at schmoozing with suppliers, making sure they're on the same page about quality.

Sisay doesn’t mess around – she digs into the nitty-gritty, personally checking out coffee samples, and making sure they’re up to snuff. And she’s super strict about shipping containers being squeaky clean – no old coffee residue is getting past her watch! This coffee queen has even got suppliers stepping up their game because they know she won't settle for less. She’s also a whiz at data entry, keeping tabs on every little detail about the coffee.

And talk about commitment – Sisay’s constantly sharpening her coffee tasting skills to keep up with all the new flavors and trends. She’s also a dreamer with big plans, hoping to get Tropiq Ethiopia to be even more hands-on with the coffee process. In a nutshell, Sisay is like the superhero of Ethiopian coffee quality control.
